The August 2026 Criminology Licensure Examination was simultaneously administered in numerous testing centers nationwide to accommodate the large number of examinees. Examination venues included the National Capital Region (NCR), Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Calapan, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Palawan, Pagadian, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, Zamboanga, Bacolod, Bayambang, Bohol, Catarman, Cauayan, Dumaguete, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and Kidapawan, allowing graduates from different regions to take the examination closer to their respective provinces.
The examination was administered under the supervision of the PRC Board of Criminology, headed by Chairman Hon. Ramil G. Gabao, together with board members Hon. Lani T. Palmones and Hon. Warren M. Corpuz. The Board remains responsible for ensuring that the licensure examination adheres to the standards prescribed under Philippine laws governing the practice of criminology and professional regulation.
Every year, the Criminology Licensure Examination serves as the gateway for graduates seeking professional registration as licensed criminologists. Passing the examination enables successful examinees to legally practice the profession and pursue careers in various government agencies, including the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and other institutions involved in public safety, criminal investigation, and law enforcement.
The PRC is likewise expected to release important statistical data accompanying the examination results. These include the overall passing rate, the performance of first-time and repeat examinees, and the performance of colleges and universities whose graduates participated in the examination. Educational institutions closely monitor these figures, as they serve as significant indicators of academic performance and institutional excellence in criminology education.
As part of its official examination procedures, the PRC may also issue notices regarding examinees whose examination results require additional review. In this year’s examination, the Commission announced that the results of three (3) examinees have been withheld pending the final determination of their liabilities under the rules and regulations governing licensure examinations. Meanwhile, the results of two (2) examinees have been withheld pending the submission of the required documents, while the results of five (5) examinees remain under further verification of the documents they submitted. These cases will be resolved separately by the Commission in accordance with existing rules and due process before any final determination is made.
Examinees are advised to monitor the official announcements of the Professional Regulation Commission as the expected release date approaches in September 2026. Once the results are made available, successful examinees should carefully review the official schedules for online registration, issuance of the Professional Identification Card (PIC), and the Oath-Taking Ceremony, which are essential steps before they can formally practice the criminology profession.
For thousands of examinees and their families, the release of the August 2026 Criminology Licensure Examination results represents months of preparation, perseverance, and determination. Whether pursuing careers in law enforcement, forensic science, corrections, security management, or public service, passing the licensure examination marks the beginning of a professional journey dedicated to justice, peace, and public safety. As the nation awaits the official publication of the results this September, hopeful examinees continue to look forward to achieving the long-awaited title of Registered Criminologist.
