CPALE RESULTS: PRC Announces 3,004 New CPA Certified Public Accountants as May 2026 Licensure Examination Released

MANILA, Philippines — The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that 3,004 examinees successfully passed the May 2026 Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Licensure Examination out of a total of 9,745 candidates who took the test nationwide.

The examination, administered by the Board of Accountancy, was conducted across multiple testing centers throughout the country, including the National Capital Region, Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga.

Based on the official results released by the PRC, the examination registered a passing rate of approximately 30.83 percent, reflecting the rigorous standards and comprehensive requirements of one of the country’s most challenging professional licensure examinations.

The CPA Licensure Examination is considered a critical gateway for aspiring accountants seeking to enter the profession. Passing the examination grants successful candidates the privilege of becoming licensed Certified Public Accountants, enabling them to practice in various sectors, including public accounting, corporate finance, government service, academia, and consultancy.

The PRC also disclosed that the results of eight examinees have been withheld pending the final determination of their liabilities under existing rules and regulations governing licensure examinations. The commission did not provide further details regarding the cases, emphasizing that the review process remains ongoing.

The Board of Accountancy, which supervised and administered the examination, is headed by Chairman Hon. Noe G. Quiñanola. Joining him on the board are Vice Chairman Hon. Samuel B. Padilla and members Hon. Gloria T. Baysa, Hon. Thelma S. Ciudadano, Hon. Gervacio I. Piator, and Hon. Maria Teresita Z. Dimaculangan, who was inhibited from participation in matters related to the examination results.

Industry leaders and academic institutions welcomed the release of the examination results, noting that the newly licensed accountants will play an important role in strengthening financial transparency, corporate governance, and economic development in the country. As businesses continue to navigate increasingly complex financial and regulatory environments, the demand for competent and ethical accounting professionals remains significant.

The accounting profession is widely regarded as one of the pillars of economic stability and accountability. Certified Public Accountants are entrusted with ensuring the integrity of financial records, conducting audits, preparing financial statements, and providing expert advice to organizations and individuals. Their work is essential in promoting public trust in financial reporting and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Successful examinees are advised to complete their registration requirements to officially join the roster of licensed professionals. According to the PRC, registration for the issuance of the Professional Identification Card (PIC) and Certificate of Registration will begin on July 9, 2026, through the commission’s online registration system.

Applicants are instructed to visit the official PRC website and follow the prescribed procedures for online registration. Those registering must present a screenshot of the system-generated Registration Form and a valid government-issued identification card.

The PRC further reminded successful candidates that personal appearance is required during registration. New CPAs must personally sign the Roster of Registered Professionals, a formal step that signifies their entry into the accounting profession and their commitment to uphold the ethical and professional standards expected of licensed practitioners.

For thousands of successful examinees, the release of the results marks the culmination of years of academic preparation, rigorous review sessions, and months of anticipation. For many, earning the CPA title represents not only a personal achievement but also the beginning of a professional journey dedicated to financial stewardship, accountability, and public service.

Previous CPA Licensure Examinations

The Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination (CPALE) remains one of the most highly anticipated and widely taken professional licensure examinations administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), consistently attracting thousands of aspiring accountants nationwide.

During the October 2025 CPALE, a total of 3,460 out of 10,171 examinees successfully passed the examination, translating to a passing rate of 34.02 percent. Leading the successful candidates was Mike Ronnel Diwa Castro of Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University, who achieved a score of 91.83 percent. He was closely followed by Hannah Katrina Ballesteros De Vera of Kingfisher School of Business and Finance, who obtained a rating of 91.50 percent. Meanwhile, Bicol University–Daraga emerged as the top-performing school with an impressive overall passing rate of 84.85 percent.

Earlier, in the May 2025 CPALE, 3,156 of the 9,533 examinees passed, resulting in a 33.11 percent passing rate. John Elrich Ramirez Gamboa from the University of the Philippines–Diliman topped the examination with a rating of 92.67 percent. Coming in second was Aleya Francis Romanes De Guzman of De La Salle University–Manila, who earned a score of 91.00 percent. UP Diliman also distinguished itself as the top-performing school, recording a perfect 100 percent passing rate.

In the December 2024 CPALE, the PRC reported that 3,058 out of 10,136 examinees passed the examination, equivalent to a passing rate of 30.17 percent. The top spot was secured by Jianne Ilysse Dy Yu of the University of San Carlos, who garnered a rating of 89.67 percent. She was followed by Julianne Nicole Luban Vitug from UP Diliman, who achieved a score of 89.50 percent. UP Diliman once again earned recognition as the top-performing school, posting an outstanding overall passing rate of 98.04 percent.

These results highlight the rigorous nature of the CPALE and underscore the high standards required of future Certified Public Accountants in the Philippines.
