President Marcos Joins LGBTQIA+ Community in Celebrating Pride Month, Reaffirms Commitment to Equality and Inclusion

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has joined the LGBTQIA+ community in celebrating Pride Month, expressing solidarity with millions of Filipinos while honoring the courage, resilience, and contributions of individuals who have long fought for equality, dignity, and recognition in society.

In an official message released by Malacañang for Pride Month 2026, the President paid tribute to members of the LGBTQIA+ community who refused to be excluded, marginalized, or denied their rightful place in society. He emphasized that the freedoms and recognition enjoyed today were achieved through years of struggle, sacrifice, perseverance, and an unwavering belief in human dignity.

“I join the LGBTQIA+ Community in celebrating Pride Month,” President Marcos stated. “This observance honors the courage of those who refused to be excluded or denied their rightful place in society.”

The President underscored that Pride Month serves not only as a celebration of diversity but also as a reminder of the ongoing pursuit of equality and social justice. He noted that the progress achieved by the LGBTQIA+ community was not freely granted but was earned through decades of advocacy and determination.

Commitment to Equal Rights and Protection

In his message, President Marcos reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring equal protection, equal opportunity, and equal respect under the law for every Filipino, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, or personal background.

“As we celebrate Pride Month, the government reaffirms a principle that must never waver: every Filipino is entitled to equal protection, equal opportunity, and equal respect under the law,” he said.

The President stressed that inclusion should go beyond words and symbolic gestures. According to him, genuine equality must be reflected in public policies, strengthened by institutions, and practiced in everyday interactions among citizens.

He emphasized that building a fair and inclusive society requires collective effort and a continued commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of all individuals.

Recognizing the Contributions of the LGBTQIA+ Community

President Marcos also highlighted the significant contributions of the LGBTQIA+ community to the nation’s development. He acknowledged the role of LGBTQIA+ Filipinos in various sectors, including public service, business, education, arts, healthcare, and community leadership.

“The LGBTQIA+ Community has long helped shape our country’s progress through its talent, service, and leadership,” the President said.

He further noted that overlooking these contributions would mean disregarding an essential part of the Filipino story. The President stressed that every citizen deserves recognition and appreciation for their role in nation-building.

According to Marcos, no Filipino should ever feel invisible in the country they help build, nor should anyone be forced to conceal their identity in order to gain acceptance, understanding, or opportunities.

Building a More Inclusive Nation

The President emphasized that the true measure of a just and progressive nation lies in how well it enables every individual to live with security, purpose, dignity, and a sense of belonging.

As the administration continues to promote its vision of a “Bagong Pilipinas,” Marcos called on Filipinos to move forward together with compassion, respect, courage, and unity.

“As we forge a Bagong Pilipinas, let us move forward together with compassion, respect, and courage,” he said.

He urged citizens to stand united in defending the welfare of every Filipino and in creating a future where no one is left behind because of who they are, how they identify, or whom they love.

Pride Month Celebration

Pride Month is observed every June worldwide to celebrate diversity, promote inclusion, and recognize the struggles and achievements of the LGBTQIA+ community. In the Philippines, various organizations, advocacy groups, and local government units hold activities and events that highlight equality, human rights, and social acceptance.

President Marcos concluded his message by extending his well wishes to the LGBTQIA+ community and all those participating in Pride Month celebrations.

“I wish everyone a meaningful and inspiring Pride Month celebration,” he said. “Mabuhay ang LGBTQIA+ Community!”

The President’s message reflects the administration’s call for unity and respect while reinforcing the importance of equal rights, inclusion, and human dignity as the nation continues its journey toward a more progressive and compassionate Philippines.
