The search for Angelica Brophy, a 44-year-old California emergency room nurse and mother of two, has entered its second week after she mysteriously disappeared following a visit to Palomar Mountain. Despite extensive search efforts by authorities and volunteers, no trace of Brophy has been found, as her family continues to plead for answers and hope for her safe return.

The search for Angelica Brophy, a 44-year-old emergency room nurse and mother of two from Oceanside, California, has entered its second week as family members, friends, and search teams continue looking for any sign of her after she mysteriously disappeared following a hike near Palomar Mountain.
Brophy was last seen shortly after 4 p.m. on July 6, when she was believed to be near Palomar Mountain in San Diego County, an area she often visited for hiking. According to her family, hiking was one of her favorite activities, and she was very familiar with the trails because she had explored them many times with relatives.

When she failed to return home later that evening, her husband became worried and immediately contacted police. Since then, authorities have launched an extensive search operation, but despite days of searching, there has been no confirmed sighting of Brophy.
Investigators said Brophy had visited Harrah’s Casino earlier that afternoon before driving toward the Doane Valley area, where her vehicle was later found parked near one of the trailheads. Her parked car quickly became the starting point for the search, with rescue teams combing nearby hiking paths and surrounding forest areas.
Authorities also tried to locate Brophy by tracking her cellphone. However, detectives were unable to obtain its location because the phone was either switched off or its battery had already died. The lack of a phone signal has made the search even more difficult.
Since her disappearance, search-and-rescue crews have spent countless hours searching the rugged terrain of Palomar Mountain State Park. Helicopters, ground search teams, trained volunteers, and search dogs have all been involved in the effort, but no significant clues have been discovered.
As each day passes without answers, Brophy’s loved ones continue to hold onto hope while asking the public to help.
Her sister-in-law, Lisa Fabregas, described Brophy as someone who truly enjoyed life and brought happiness to the people around her.
According to Lisa, Brophy is a caring mother who always puts her children first. She said the missing nurse is known for her cheerful personality, sense of humor, and carefree spirit. One of her favorite habits, Lisa recalled, was singing loudly even if she was completely off-key, simply because she enjoyed it and did not care what anyone else thought.
Family members say those joyful memories are helping them stay strong while waiting for news.
Manny Fabregas, one of Brophy’s five older brothers, admitted that the uncertainty has been emotionally exhausting for the family. He said they feel as though their lives are on hold while they continue hoping for a breakthrough in the investigation.
Another brother, Martin Fabregas, said the family is doing everything possible to remain hopeful despite the difficult circumstances. He acknowledged that it is easy to think about worst-case scenarios but stressed that everyone is encouraging one another to stay positive until more information becomes available.
Outside of organized search efforts, Brophy’s relatives have also been taking matters into their own hands. They have distributed missing-person posters across communities throughout North County, hoping someone may remember seeing her or provide information that could help investigators.
According to the missing-person notices, Brophy was last seen wearing black leggings and a gray T-shirt.
Friends and coworkers have also expressed concern over her disappearance. Brophy works as an emergency room nurse at Kaiser Hospital in San Marcos, where she is known for caring for patients during some of the most critical moments of their lives. Many colleagues have joined calls for information and continue hoping for her safe return.
At this stage of the investigation, the Oceanside Police Department said there is no evidence suggesting foul play in Brophy’s disappearance. However, detectives continue to investigate every possible lead, including reviewing her activities at Harrah’s Casino before she traveled to the hiking area.
Police have not ruled out any possibilities and are urging anyone who may have seen Brophy on July 6 or who has information about her movements to come forward. Even small details, investigators say, could prove important in helping piece together the events leading up to her disappearance.
As the search enters another week, Brophy’s family continues to wait anxiously for answers. While uncertainty remains, they are asking the public not to forget Angelica and to continue sharing her story in the hope that someone, somewhere, holds the key to bringing the beloved nurse, wife, and mother safely back home.
