The Department of Education (DepEd) is reinforcing its commitment to school safety by accelerating the nationwide implementation of updated security protocols, following a high-level meeting led by Education Secretary Sonny Angara with all DepEd Regional Directors on Friday.
The meeting focused on ensuring the swift, coordinated, and uniform enforcement of enhanced security measures across public schools, as the agency continues to prioritize the protection of learners, teachers, and school communities.
Secretary Angara directed all regional officials to closely monitor every school division to guarantee full compliance with DepEd’s newly issued safety and security directives. He emphasized that strict oversight and consistent implementation are essential in creating secure learning environments where students can study without fear and educators can perform their duties with confidence.
The strengthened measures include intensified coordination among regional and division offices, continuous monitoring of schools, and the immediate execution of updated safety protocols designed to improve emergency preparedness and campus security.
DepEd said the initiative forms part of its broader effort to build safer, more resilient schools capable of responding effectively to security threats and emergencies. Regional Directors were instructed to work closely with Schools Division Offices and school administrators to ensure that all institutions comply with the department’s guidelines.
The department also stressed the importance of collaboration among school officials, local government units, law enforcement agencies, parents, and surrounding communities in maintaining peace and order within school premises.
As the implementation moves forward, DepEd reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of every learner and education worker by strengthening preventive measures and promoting a culture of preparedness in schools nationwide.
